Social awareness project (Michelle)
- How can we create awareness of the mental health issues developed through the use of social media.
You can use social media and create a page to promote awareness and get people to share the page and in turn gain more publicity. Also you could create some sort of media material such as a short film or documentary to promote mental health issues.
Our idea:
An advert for a website that helps people who are addicted to social media stop being addicted. We have chosen to create this because, as a group, we feel that in today’s society, there are lots of people, especially teens, are addicted to social media and it’s taking over our lives. We want to raise awareness and show our target audience that they can get help via our website dedicated to helping those who suffer from addiction to social media.
Our approach:
We are taking inspiration from TLC’s “my strange addiction” and are going to have a character who is addicted to social media and we are going to help him stop being addicted by using a website as rehabilitation and in the end we are going to show the audience how much he has changed.
Target audience:
As of 14/7/2019 73% of the people using snapchat were 18-24 years old in the US (according to OMNICORE) and the largest age demographic consumer on instagram is also 18-24 year old (according to Hootsuite). We have taken from this information that area target audience should indeed be 18-24 year olds as they are the largest consumers of social media on two of the biggest social media platforms.
We feel that our marketing campaign will appeal to our target audience because our advert is inspired by my strange addiction. My strange addiction is a tv series created by major the major television company “TLC”. It basically follows addicts around and delves deeper into their addictions more specifically “weird” addictions such as eating paint and eating beds. We will use their format of following around addicts but in our case it'll be social media addicts.
