Task 4 : Personal Statement Draft.

In regards to progression and post-college plans I wish to go on to study journalism in university, which will then lead to a job in sport journalism, in which I would actively report on on professional sporting news and events. In order to pursue this career I have researched that I would need to further study journalism at a bachelors or master level in order to ensure I am academically well equipped for the profession. I have selected this course due to having an interest in the media and the way it impacts and shapes society as well as a passion for sport, as I chose to play football in my spare time and actively follow said sport. I read a lot of Newspapers and articles about sports these would be like from 'The Sun' and many more. I also watch a lot of sports journalism, this being watching football matches to match highlights, interviews ext, the reason for this is that it give me a more indepth feeling to the sport and also to the viewer and audience. The reason of Sports Journalism and why its good is to actually show the audience the insights of the sport and for example on the programme 'Match of the day' there are pundits that analyse the matches, This is great for the viewers as it help them gain knowledge and it gives them opportunities to interact.

As well as being a naturally inquisitive person I am eager to learn more about the other aspects, besides playing, that go into the sport industry. This chosen course helps combine my two interest and is initially what sparked my interest to research further into pursuing it. I've also done work that relates to Sports Journalism which would a documentary i done at college, the documentary was a basketball documentary about a boy start from young to now and on how its impacted his life. This Documentary encouraged me more to get into sports journalism and left me wanting to pursue a career in this. This would be a suitable course for me as already possess some of the skills needed to perform well. I am a very sociable person which can aid in communicating with not only athletes but fans of the sports. As well as social skills I maintain a series of practical skills such as: being an organised individual which can help with meeting and maintaining deadlines, I am also able to work efficiently. I am very adaptable which allows me to pick up essential skills quickly and I am always keen to learn knew life skills, this help me in becoming adapted to the university lifestyle. I always take pride in my work in making sure anything I produce is presented in the most aesthetically pleasing way, taking care with presentation and delivery, this would be useful in going into the world of journalism.

By studying Media it has further solidified my interest in the topic and also expanded my skill set. I have been able to adapt my understanding of using different technologies which helps in having to conduct research in given topics. Media has also helped me come into my more creative side and helps me convey this appropriately. I've also done things outside college that would definitely help me in sports journalism, this would be me having a youtube channel and creating videos for my subscribers, the content i produced was from sports to gaming and now general vlogs, i am very confident in front of camera which is an advantage to sports journalism too.
